To Get Started....
The first step is the same for both DeLorme's Street Atlas (pre-2003) and
Topo USA. You should have copied the MasMils/PLUS folders you want to your
hard drive. The appropriate files are in the folder "\Masmils Files for Street
Atlas" on your CD. Most people copy over the county extracts they want (they are
text, ".txt", files). Put them in a place you can find on your hard drive.
For Street Atlas USA (pre 2003):
- Launch your Street Atlas program.
- First move yourself on the map to the area you want to look at.
- Click on "File" in the menu bar.
- Click on the sub-option "Lat/Lon File..."
- In the browse box, specify your import file from the folder you copied the
files to..
- The locations will overprint on your map on the screen. If you don't see
anything, "pull back" to get a bigger view.
For Topo USA (and Street Atlas 2003):
- Launch your Topo USA program.
- First move yourself on the map to the area you want to look at.
- Click on the "draw" buttonish kind of thing down below the map.
- If you are using Topo USA 4.0 or Street Atlas 2003 click on the
"file" button over on the left. Note that this
step is NOT needed if you are using Topo 3.0.
- Click on the "import" button over on the right side.
- In the browse box, specify your import file from the folder you copied the
files to..
- The locations will overprint on your map on the screen. If you don't see
anything, "pull back" to get a bigger view.
